Holland Ladies Victorious!

Holland Ladies A won all 5 matches at the recent Amsterdam Tournament to ensure a home tournament victory and set down their challenge for both the Benelux & European Ladies Championships.

Saturday May 26th, saw 5 ladies football teams line out to play in the Amsterdam football tournament. Gorgeous sunshine made it a beautiful day for football in the Amsterdam GAC sports grounds. It was very positive to see both Belgium and Holland fielding 2 teams each on the day and adding to the competition of the regional round.

Holland B who were made up of mainly new and international players put in some fine début performances and had a great win over a tough Luxembourg side.

Luxembourg gave a great showing for their first tournament of the year and will be a team to be watched in future rounds. Belgium B's really put it up to their Belgian counterparts, had good wins over Luxembourg and Holland B, and were unlucky to miss out on a place in the final.

Belgium A's showed their experience in ensuring their place in that final spot. They put up a battling performance all day and particularly in that last game where the absence of a few of their key players showed. They will certainly be back more determined for their home tournament next month.

Holland A showed their hunger for a tournament victory throughout the day and refused to lie down against any opponents in their way. Based on their consistent performances, victory was well justified in the final against an experienced Belgium team and ensured a 100% record for the team on the day!

The day was capped with a fitting player of the tournament presentation to Mary McPherson who was the rock of the defence of the Holland A team. Well done to all on a great sporting day of ladies football, and big congrats, to Holland Ladies and their coaches James & Ivan on their home tournament victory!
