Intermediate's Claim European Championship

Hot on the heels of the senior Amsterdam team claiming the European 15's Championship, the Intermediate team secured back to back European titles for the club by winning the European Intermediate 2014 Championship.

The championship was last won by the club in 2011, by the senior team, and 3 years later with the cup back in Dutch possession, it shows how far the club has come with the second string team claiming it.

The Intermediate championship was a populated field, with 10 teams competing. Amsterdam faced off in 4 group matches against Clermont, Dusseldorf, Rennes, and Rovigo, before facing familiar foes Belgium in a semi final, and Frankfurt in the final. Despite a tiring day with 6 full matches, Amsterdam made a clean sweep with 6 victories, to claim the championship.

Highlights of the day including a stunning long range Dara Dowd goal 30 seconds into the first match against Dusseldorf, a 20+ points victory over rivals Belgium in the semi final, and a superb overall performance from Berry Braster in his final game for Amsterdam GAC before retirement.

GAA President Liam O'Neill was on hand to present the European Intermediate Championship to David Corcoran & Berry Braster later in the evening.
