Holland Ladies Finish Strongly in Thurles

Holland Ladies camogie team travelled to Thurles last weekend to play their third ever camogie tournament in what has been an exciting debut season for the team.

After their excellent display in Luxembourg in June, where the ladies reached the final, the team headed to Thurles to finish out a strong season which will no doubt be the starting point for many years of camogie success for Holland!

The ladies beat familiar foes Luxembourg and Zurich in the early stages, but were unlucky to go down to Belgium and Paris, who both made the final, later in the day.

Despite only having 12 players, Holland overcame Luxembourg for a second time, to claim third place overall. The ladies are now in a great position to kick on from their debut season in the Camogie 7’s next month.

Well done to all, and thanks to team captain Rose Holland for the player reviews below:

Eimear was superb in goal, brilliant puck-outs and saves from all angles.

Kate was as tenacious as ever and a solid player all day. She ran up and down the pitch endlessly and also scored a goal and a point.

Catherine Hennessy was a constant threat in the forwards and also scored a goal and a point.

Mary McP played fantastically in the back line…was as tough as nails refusing to let anyone past her!

Mairead fought through injury to ensure we had enough players to field and refused to let her marker get on the ball.

Catherine Smith and Heather were superb especially considering they’d never played before! Heather played over 3 full games in midfield! And Catherine proved to be a natural forward.

Sheila did fantastically when she came on and Lynn was a massive support and organiser on the sideline.
