Hurling & Camogie Success for Amsterdam!

Players from Amsterdam GAC have already found success in European Hurling and Camogie tournaments, in their debut seasons in their respective leagues.

Holland Ladies, led by former Cork senior camogie player, Rosaire Holland, established their camogie team in March and reached the final of the first European Camogie tournament in April. The ladies team which featured only two experienced camogie players, and a host of newcomers to the sport, were successful at reaching the tournament final at their first attempt, against Paris.

While the French girls overcame Holland in the final, it was an excellent day for the ladies and all involved in the club. Rosaire, who was instrumental in getting the team set up, was awarded yet another Player of the Tournament award…keep it going Rose!!

The girls will look to continue their good form in upcoming tournaments in Luxembourg and Thurles over the summer. Well done to all the girls!!

On the hurling side, Amsterdam is focusing on the European Hurling 7’s tournament later in the summer, where they will make their team debut. In the meanwhile, Darren Corcoran will be arranging regular hurling training sessions, and a number of our players have already a number of European Hurling medals in their back pockets this season.

Cathal Hogan, Conor O’Rourke, Eolann Harrington, Fergal Walsh, and Jack Gorman have all been successful at winning back to back hurling tournaments this season joining up with players from across The Netherlands. Congrats to all the lads, and everybody is looking forward to making a winning start for the Amsterdam Hurling team at the European 7’s!
