First Tournament on the Horizon & Pub Quiz

Pre-season training has been going extremely well for both Amsterdam Mens and Holland Ladies, but the real action kicks off this weekend with the first competitive matches of 2011.

Amsterdam GAC will again participate in the annual St. Patrick’s Festival Invitational Tournament in The Hague where a number of new players will make their debuts for the club. There has been a number of impressive additions to the mens team, with eleven new lads out training, and more on the way, which is a great sign for the season ahead.

Holland Ladies have also acquired a number of new members, and will face off against their old foes, Belgium Ladies, on Saturday. Both teams have squared up at nearly every tournament over the past few years, more often than not, in the final of these tournaments, and this match is an ideal starting block for Holland Ladies on their road to a successful season.

Good luck to both teams on Saturday!

Off the pitch, the club hosted another very successful pub quiz in the Hole in the Wall bar, in Leidseplein. Ian O’Malley stepped in to act as quizmaster with Dara Dowd as his dazzling assistant!

An excellent turnout once again, with 50 people spread across a number of teams. Many thanks for a great turnout, especially by a large amount of our new members!

Congrat’s to Tadhg’s winning team...can’t remember the exact name but they did profess their undying love for Enda Kenny. However unlike Enda Kenny’s large victory margin, Tadhg and the team scraped past Brendan’s team, ‘Another 5 Metres to the Line’ by just one point...let’s hope Brendan is more successful on Saturday.

Thanks to both Ian & Dara for putting it all together, and many thanks to our kind sponsors, Hole in the Wall, for supplying the prizes.
