The final gaa tournament of 2010 took place in Maastricht on November 6th. The Amsterdam mens team captured the Shield tournament, beating out 14 other teams competing on the day.
The lads won all of their three group matches, and met Prague in the semi-finals, where they kept control throughout the match. In the final, they met long time foes, Copenhagen, but Amsterdam made it five wins out of five on the day, with a six point vicotry. Great performances by the whole team, in particular by goalkeeper Ian Marshall who pulled out some stunning saves throughout the day.
Holland Ladies had to hold their nerve in a point-taking shootout to progress to Ladies Championship semi-finals. Some excellent points scored which led to the ladies facing off against Belgium in the semi-final. Unfortunately, the Belgium Ladies held strong in the semis and went through to the final.
Hard luck to the ladies, and congrats to the mens team. Great performances by both teams, and it bodes well for 2011!
